I found my warthog a long time ago... I dont remember where exactly...
I do remember passing thru an area with alot of warthogs there... Oh yea, during the "The Wilds" mission, there was one area with like 2-3 warthogs...
R/E probably do the best damage... 1 preparation, 1 stance, 1 conjur, 1 attack skill, and rituals = awesome damage... now if you got someone to support you with judge's insight as well O.o Dual shot would be the best attack skill to use with all these. They nerfed Tiger's fury a bit, but still plenty good enough. High expertise is suggested, so you can spam skills.

Yeah R/E is the best to play for long range death, its a strange fun to rain flaming death on a group while shooting the stuffing out of them with either flaming arrows+dual shot, or getting up close and using point blank shot plus some lighting spells
I have a friend who is running W/Me, he can pretty much kill anything extremely quickly with just a few skills, but thats only if its 1v1, if he gets mobbed he is pretty much screwed. it kills things very very quickly though

I love my R/Monk Sure I am not as much a death machine but I can sit back and plugg away with arrows all day long and still heal/rez party members. In fact in most of the mission I was the only monk and we all made it just fine. I run with 6 Ranger skills and 2 monk most of the time.
Called Shot
Pen Shot
Read the wind/Flame arrows (I enterchange them)
fast relflex
Charm animal for pet
Confort animal to heal/rez pet
Rez for party
Heal area for me and party
Mark 7
beast 3
expertise 4
wild 2
healing 2
the rest at 1

You can actually do a good amount of damage as a ran/mon with the right build. Invest points in smiting and get Judge's Insight and you'l have no trouble dealing out damage.

It works. MY brother already tried it.
Expertise 10
Marksmanship 11
Smiting 10
Barrage (elite)
Hunter's shot
Penetrating Attack
Favorable winds
Pin down
Debilitating shot (i think)
Judge's insight
Scourge healing
Spam barrage after throwing up insight and winds, put scourge healing where appropriate, use other skills where appropriate. He was dong up to 70 dmg a hit with barrage alone.

dual shot double the number of your hit... only your normal damage is reduced I believe (and it is 25%)
it is basically like hundred blade and not elite with range.
conjur would hit twice
preparation would hit twice
ritual would hit twice
regular attack would hit twice
you will see like 6-8 numbers poping out

The warthogs are for sure around lions arch, I saw a few in pre searing ascalon but im not sure if you could tame them or not.
I want to try to do a conditions stacker with a primary ranger, or as a ranger secondary. I was either thinking a mesmer build with fragility and conditions, or a warrior build with bleeding and poison, wich would be a constant -7 health degen for 14 strait seconds (same as fire but much longer), and i can just keep switching back and forth between the conditions. Or mabey even a ranger necro with poision and Disese at -8 health degen.

Dual Shot - you shoot 2 arrows but the damage of each arrow is only 75%. If it were 50% there would be no benefit to the other arrow.

Warthogs can be easily found in all the missions between the wilds and aurora glade.
My personal favorite secondary to ranger is mesmer, but I often don't even use any mesmer skills in my build.
All ranger guild will not do great. you'll win against smaller, less organized guilds, but will be whiped clean by skilled and coordinated ones.

Ohh, so you're the person I stole the Barrage + Judge's Insight idea from. kudos, that thing works great :-P
I don't have any other bow attacks other than Barrage on my build tho, due to the simple fact that Barrage is the fastest, and most power efficient attack, even for a single target. If anything, I load some interrupts along Barrage, but usually, for PvE I got with Throw Dirt and Dust Trap.

i normally play a monk/mesn but since i am at almost end of game i made a rng/war and i find i do pretty high dps just got to keep enough energy for my troll urgent. i am usually last to die in group. maybe its cos i used my higher lvler main to farm my ranger best rnger and warrior gear out there.
its too bad most players misunderstand how a ranger works or how to play them in group. but once you got built and equipment right rangers are fun dps ^^

Ranger/Mesmer
Hello, Although I use all four of my slots to experiment with all classes, I have one main character I play which is a Ranger. When I first started GW during E3 last year, I created her to be a R/E. I agree with the previous poster this is an awesome combo, but the energy is high to cast and I found myself often in the hurts without a good support monk. *only primary elementist have the energy storage attribute.*
After the first beta wipe I went to Ranger/Monk.. also an excellent combo. Something about roleplaying as a druid was appealing. ;-)
Now that we are in release, I have recreated her to be a Ranger/Mesmer *though I reconsidered elementist since I understand how Guild Wars works much better now*.. and so far by specializing in Domination magic combined with markmenship/expertise I've been doing pretty well.
My close friend that plays her mate is a Ranger/Monk so we usually keep from dying TOO much. ;-)
By far they are our favorite characters.. Something about being "born to be wild."

during the BWE i had made a monk/necro, i ended up making a Ranger/Mesmer when GW was finally released to take advantage of the preorder item i received. And i havent regretting making a ranger since. Although i'm not much for grouping with strangers, my buddy and I go through the coops decently well (he's a warrior/necro)
atm i'm using apply poison->pindown->hunter's shot to get my target hurting in a hurry (poison + bleeding = pain ) then usually follow up with a multitude of arrow attacks (dual, power, penetrating mostly) and got distracting shot to stop those heal signet annoyances.
I've only got backfire on my bar from the mesmer profession to deal with those cast happy bosses. but at times when i know they'll be bunched up, i'll swap out a bow skill for epidemic, thus spreading the "love". also helps my buddy, he likes to weaken armor and pump the adrenal skills that causes bleeding
